Terms and Conditions for Woking Carpentry Ltd

These Terms & Conditions apply to all work carried out by Woking Carpentry Ltd. By accepting a quotation, you agree to the terms below.
  1. Quotations & Estimates
    • Quotations are valid for 30 days from the issue date.
    • Quotes are based on visible conditions and the information available at the time.
    • Hidden or unforeseen issues may result in additional costs.
    • Estimates are approximate and may change if the scope of work changes.

  1. Scope of Work
    • Work will be completed as outlined in the written quotation or specification.
    • Any additional work requested will be treated as a variation and may affect cost and timescale.
    • Variations must be agreed in writing (email or message confirmation is acceptable).

  1. Payment Terms
    • A deposit may be required to secure a start date and cover materials.
    • Stage payments may be required for larger projects.
    • The final balance is due upon completion of the work.
    • Late payments may incur interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
    • Materials remain our property until paid for in full.

  1. Client Responsibilities
  • Clients agree to:
  • Provide safe and clear access to the work area
  • Remove personal belongings from work zones
  • Arrange parking permits where required
  • Provide access to electricity and toilet facilities where possible

Delays caused by lack of access may result in additional charges.

  1. Start Dates & Delays
    • Start and completion dates are estimates, not guarantees.
    • We are not responsible for delays caused by weather, supplier shortages, unforeseen structural issues, or client-requested changes.

  1. Materials
    • Materials will be supplied as specified in the quotation.
    • Natural materials such as timber and stone may vary in colour, grain, and texture.
    • If selected materials become unavailable, suitable alternatives will be discussed.

  1. Workmanship Guarantee
    • We provide a 12-month workmanship guarantee on labour.
    • This excludes general wear and tear, structural movement, damage caused by others, and lack of maintenance.
    • Manufacturer warranties apply to supplied products.

  1. Snagging
    • Any issues must be reported within 14 days of completion.
    • We will return within a reasonable timeframe to address valid snagging items.

  1. Hidden Problems

We are not responsible for issues that could not reasonably be identified before work began, including:

  • Rotten timbers
  • Structural movement
  • Damp or mould in concealed areas
  • Asbestos (specialist testing/removal required)

Any additional work required will be quoted separately.

  1. Liability & Insurance
    • We hold appropriate Public Liability Insurance.
    • Our liability is limited to the value of the contract.
    • We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses.

  1. Health & Safety
    • Clients must inform us of any known hazards at the property.
    • Children and pets must be kept away from work areas at all times.

  1. Waste Removal
    • Waste removal is included only if stated in the quotation.
    • Otherwise, disposal remains the client’s responsibility.

  1. Cancellations
    • If a project is cancelled after acceptance, costs already incurred (materials, time booked, etc.) will be chargeable.
    • Deposits are non-refundable once materials have been ordered.

  1. Permissions & Approvals

Unless agreed otherwise, the client is responsible for obtaining:

  • Planning Permission
  • Building Control approval
  • Party Wall agreements

We can assist with these, but responsibility remains with the client.

  1. Use of Photographs

We may take photographs of completed work for portfolio and marketing purposes unless the client requests otherwise in writing.

  1. Disputes

We aim to resolve any concerns amicably. Any unresolved disputes will be governed by the laws of England and Wales.

  1. Acceptance

Acceptance of a quotation confirms agreement to these Terms & Conditions.
